Hands-on lessons foster a connection with the natural world

Our Youth Programs are designed to help students and teachers get the most out of their School Yard Habitat.  We have developed dynamic and innovative programming for children of all ages. Our hands-on lessons foster connections with the natural world and encourage students to become good environmental stewards.

An EC Wetland Educator will travel to your school to teach interactive wetland and watershed focused lessons.  Students will get to experience the exciting world of wetland habitats without having to leave your campus.  A variety of program options areavailable.

An EC Wetland Educator will travel to your school to teach interactive Schoolyard Habitat lessons. Whether you are interested in developing a schoolyard habitat at your school or already have a schoolyard habitat and want to learn about monitoring and other lessons centered around the habitat you have created, EC is your one-stop-shop for SYH programs.

Programs include: Habitat Assessment, Habitat Design, Creating a Planting Plan, Planning Rain Gardens, & more...


Service Learning Opportunities: EC has a variety of vollunteer opportunities available for students who need additional service learning credits for graduation.  Some projects might organizing education materials for upcoming workshops, creating displays, or preparing mailings. Most tasks will be completed indoors and no special attire is necessary.


Environmental Concern offers campers fun interactions with the natural world and specializes in the wet and muddy. Campers will discover the wonders of wetlands and connect to the wild things in the waters around us.

Field Trip Options

Arrange a field trip to our Wetland Learning Campus where students can explore all that EC has to offer.  A variety programs are available for students of all ages.

A Muse in the Marsh (grades 9-12)

This new program brings poetry alive in the wetlands.

Aquatic Adventure (grade 5 -10)

Introduces students to wetland ecology focusing on the concepts of biodiversity and interrelatedness using a comparative study of chemical, physical, and biological water quality indicators collected from salt and fresh marsh systems.

Wetland Discovery (grade 6 - 10)

Students will embark on a full day adventure discovering hands-on the ecology of a local wetland.

Winter Ecology (grade 4 - 8)

This class allows students to take an up-close look at what happens to wetlands in the winter, what animals have stuck around and what they do to survive.

Custom Programs (all levels)

Environmental Concern's wetland educators are flexible and knowledgeable and can work with you to accommodate your students' specific learning needs and goals.
