Become an Eastern Shore “Seed Steward”!
We’ll show you how to identify native plants in your yard and harvest their seeds. You can plant some in your garden and donate some to our nursery. You will help us grow more native plants, and your yard will become a better habitat for all the native creatures that thrive on the food and protection that native plants provide.
The annual native seed harvesting process starts in the summer and continues through the fall. We do this at our nursery every year – now you can magnify our effort by being a “Seed Steward” at home!
This activity is appropriate for all ages – from 4 to 94. Families, garden clubs, 4-H groups, neighbors, church groups, and all Eastern Shore communities and organizations are welcome to join the program.
As a Seed Steward, you’ll receive discounts on plants, seed harvesting education programs, and invitations to our appreciation events. If your seeds are healthy, and they can be identified as true native seeds, you will receive an Eastern Shore Habitat Sign for your garden.
A donation of $10 is requested to support the program and to fund the signs.
